Welcome to the Lawrence Sheriff website. I hope that as you explore the site you will get a flavour of the unique culture that underlies the school. Culture is sometimes defined as 'the way we do things around here' and I believe that this website provides a sense of the 'way we do things' at Lawrence Sheriff.
The school is of course committed to academic excellence, and many features on the pages that follow will reflect that excellence. The breadth of our academic achievement was reflected in OFSTED's 2007 inspection report which identified the school as outstanding in every category.
Department for Education performance tables ranked Lawrence Sheriff top of the country for GCSE results in 2008, 2010 and 2011:
In 2012 we were placed fourth in the country and were the top boys’ school:
However, the school is not only about academic achievement. 'The way we do things around here' also involves developing the whole person, whether it be through sport, music, drama, art or the many other clubs and societies that flourish within the school. It also involves playing a full part in the life of the community that the school serves. Our aim is to be the "community grammar school" that plays an energetic part in the community of Rugby.
In June 2011 the school achieved the Investor in People Gold Standard and in many ways that kitemark best sums up 'the way we do things around here'. The school's aim is to invest in the capability of every member of the school community and to help them to achieve their potential. We want Lawrence Sheriff to be a happy school, a place where every individual is valued for their unique contribution to the organisation.
