LSS 450th Anniversary Bake Off Competition
Monday the 22nd and Wednesday the 24th of May saw 2 mornings of competition to design and make a cake to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of Lawrence Sheriff.
All the students who took part had obviously taken some considerable time to come up with their own ideas, recipes, and work plans, and all showed some great skills and knowledge during their mornings in a hot and intense kitchen!
There must have been a lot of practice leading up to the final with all students keeping calm, cool, and assured, even on the very rare occasion where things didn’t go quite to plan!
The end result was a 100% success rate with all contestants presenting some fantastic looking and excellent tasting cakes.
At the end of each morning our judges had an incredibly difficult task (requiring multiple tastings) to try to find our winner, with only four marks separating the top five bakers.
We know some cakes made it home, some were shared amongst friends, and some were enjoyed greatly by the teachers and staff!
Well done to everyone who took part in what turned out to be a very enjoyable event, however, there can only be one winner, so after much deliberation congratulations went to M Newbold in year 10 for his school blue cake with icing books and banners, and to the two runners up – L Holman (year 8) and E Hutton (year 9).
