Windy Day/Geography Trip (Yr8)
From Wednesday 03 July 2019
To Thursday 04 July 2019

All year 8 students are being given the opportunity to participate in Windy Day, on Wednesday 3rd or Thursday 4th July 2019. Two houses will participate on each day. On the day where students are not involved in Windy Day, the Geography department are planning to take them out for a day in Birmingham to conduct some urban Geography fieldwork.

During the Birmingham trip, students will explore parts of Birmingham City Centre, supplementing prior work done on settlement, but also looking at future content students will study at GCSE Geography. Students will visit sites including Grand Central Station, the Mailbox, the ICC, and the new Library to examine redevelopment projects in the city centre. They will also get the opportunity to visit some alternative parts of the city that they may not normally do if they were to visit the city, for example, walking down the canals.
The trip will run within the timings of the normal school day. The group will be catching a train shortly after 09:00 and it is important that they meet in school by 08.30 at the latest so they can be registered before walking to the train station as a group with the supporting members of staff.
